Baku/20.10.23/Turan: Public activist Mohaddin Orujev was arrested administratively for 30 days. His relatives told Turan.
Note that he was detained on the evening of October 18 by officers of the 32nd department of the Surakhani police. The police called the reason for his detention a critical comment written by him on social networks addressed to the President of Azerbaijan.
The next day, the Surakhani district court sentenced him to 30 days of administrative arrest, finding him guilty under Articles 510 (petty hooliganism) and 535.1 (non-compliance with legal requirements of the police) of the Code of Administrative Misconduct.
In addition, the court fined him 200 manats.
It is also reported about the physical pressure exerted on the activist by the police.
The Interior Ministry could not be reached for comment.
Local human rights activists pay attention to the frequent cases of administrative arrests of activists for their critical publications on social networks.
Thus, in October, an activist of the Democracy and Welfare Party Huseyn Melik, members of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan Kanan Zeynalov, Ramin Akhmedov and Orhan Bakhyshly, as well as a public activist Emin Akhundov were arrested.
