The group of tenants of houses NN 34 and 36 on the street Ahmed Mehbalyev in the village of Gara Chukhur complain of forced eviction from their apartments in the two-storey buildings, built in 1955-56. There are 16 apartments.
Since April this year they are constantly visited by persons who do not present the documents, and offer to agree a temporary move until new buildings will be built there, and tenants will get flats.
Several families have already moved. Doors and windows are removed from the empty houses , and it creates threats to other apartments, shortages of gas and water began. " They just evict us. No one wants to speak to us officially," said a resident of the house Lyudmila Borkova. Residents are also unhappy with the small size of the proposed compensation. Two-and-three 3-room apartments in these houses have an area of 43 and 60 square meters. They are promised to get only by 5-10 square meters more.
"We do not want to live in rented apartments. Who can guarantee that they will pay up to the end of the rental? Who knows how long the construction will last? Let us give a written guarantee, conclude a contract or an apartment in ready-made houses," says Khadija Eminova. The Executive Power of Surakhani district explains the demolition of these houses by the Decree of 25 February 2016 of the Cabinet of Ministers on additional measures to accelerate socio-economic development of Baku districts. This decree provides for the demolition of dilapidated housing.

The head of the economic department of the Executive Power of Surakhani district Mehman Huseynov, told Turan that the company engaged in buildings is called “Etibarly.” Its representatives plan to meet with tenants next week. Huseynov said that the tenants in the new apartments will be provided with 25% more space than they had. According to him, those who have two-room apartments of 40 square meters will receive in the new homes two-room apartments with 54 square meters.
Residents living on 55-59 square meters will receive apartments 74 square meters. In addition, residents will be provided with 150 manats for each travel to new place. According to Mammadov, some tenants demand 2.000 manat per square meter, which does not correspond to current market prices.
What will happen if the tenants do not agree with these terms, will they be evicted? A company spokesman said he did not know what would happen in such a situation.
