Saleh Rustamov is on hunger strike for 35 days
Baku/10.12.21/Turan: Saleh Rustamov, recognized by human rights activists as a political prisoner, continues his hunger strike for 35 days in the Medical Institution of the Penitentiary Service. As the lawyer Bahruz Bayramov who visited Rustamov told Turan, the condition of the convict continues to deteriorate every day. “Saleh Rustamov said that he could not sleep because of severe pain. He looked very weak. Saleh Rustamov said that his strength was running out,” the lawyer said.
At the same time, he stressed that despite appeals to the Plenum of the Supreme Court and the Nizami District Court for the early release of Rustamov, the court sessions have not yet been scheduled.
* Supporter of the Popular Front Party, veteran of the first Karabakh war, Saleh Rustamov, was arrested in May 2018 and sentenced to 7 years 3 months in prison on a falsified case of “illegal financing of the Popular Front Party”.
Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. On November 6, he began an indefinite hunger strike demanding his release.
Saleh Rustamov is a veteran of the Karabakh war. In 1992, being the head of the Executive Power of the Gadabay region, he was one of the leaders of the Bashkand operation to ensure the security of the border villages of the region. —06B06-
