Sheikh Receives Representative of US Department of State on Religion
The head of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh received the US Ambassador Robert Cekuta, the representative of the Office on Freedom of Religious Belief at the US Department of State Daniel and the head of the working group on Europe and anti-Semitism at the US Department of State Stace Bernard Davis.
As stated by the CMO, the meeting considered religious tolerance issues, events in the Middle East, the dangerous trends in the region and ways to overcome them.
Pashazadeh told the guests about the religious situation in the country and the care of the state about the representatives of all religions.
The US is interested to build reliable and strong relations with Azerbaijan, in turn, said US Ambassador.
"In our difficult time of intolerance, Azerbaijan is an example of tolerance," he said. The diplomat expressed the desire to maintain an open dialogue between the US and Azerbaijan in this direction.
Daniel noted that the main purpose of his visit was to establish trust between the two countries. "A society is strong when all its members are provided the same opportunities," he said.
In turn, Davis said that he wants to get acquainted with the religious representatives of Azerbaijan.
The event was also attended by representatives of Baku synagogues, Catholic and Orthodox churches. -05D06-
