Baku / 16.02.19 / Turan: Co-Chairs of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Believers Rovshan Ahmedli and Eldaniz Guliyev visited the Gobustan prison the day before. They were given the opportunity to meet with Taleh Bagirzadeh, leader of the Muslim Unity Movement, Jabbar Jabbarov, an activist of this organization, and Movsum Samedov, head of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan.

According to Ahmedli, a separate meeting was held in the meeting room with the participation of lawyers with each prisoner.

Bagirzadeh took into account the request of the co-chairs of the committee, the leadership of the National Council of Democratic Forces, and thousands of supporters and decided to stop the 16-day hunger strike to protest the violation of the rights of convicted believers.

According to Ahmedli, all three convicts maintain good spirits and optimism and thank colleagues for their support.

In turn, Eldaniz Guliyev told Turan that a meeting was also requested with the activist of the Muslim Unity Abbas Huseynov. However, the meeting did not take place, because he is in hospital.

"We were told that Abbas Huseynov was placed in the same room as Abulfaz Bunyatov, convicted of the Nardaran events, bedridden, and he looks after him. This is very encouraging news," said Guliyev.

According to him, the issue of lifting restrictions on telephone calls of these persons was resolved on the spot.

Bagirzadeh and Jabbarov expressed a desire to be kept in the same cell. However, the prison authorities said it was not in their competence.

"Therefore, we will write another appeal to the Prison Service," Guliyev said.

To the question what the convicts said about torture, Guliyev replied that the believers noted that physical pressure had ceased recently.

On the whole, Guliyev positively assessed the opportunity for representatives of the public from the side of the Prison Service and Gobustan Prison to meet with these persons.

Earlier, the Prison Service denied reports of Bagirzadeh"s hunger strike. -06D--
