The action in support of Ilgar Mammadov in jail N 2
Baku / 14.06.18 / Turan: A group of activists welcomed the birthday of the leader of the REAL Party Ilgar Mammadov at the walls of the colony number 2, where he is serving a sentence. For the past 5.5 years, the imprisoned Mammadov today celebrates his 48th birthday.
On this occasion, a group of activists held a rally in support of him. They released balloons into the sky so that Mammadov could see them from behind the bars. Participants of the action also scanned the slogans "Republicans never give up", "Ilgar freedom!", etc.
Ilgar Mammadov was sentenced to 7 years in prison in connection with the unrest in the city of Ismayilli in January 2013. He was accused of organizing riots and resisting the police.
However, the European Court of Human Rights took two decisions in his case, recognizing as unlawful both the pre-trial arrest of Mamedov and the verdict against the politician.
The Azerbaijani government does not comply with these decisions.-03B06-
