The Court of Appeal upheld the sentences of Vugar Safarli and Ata Abdullayev
Baku/29.03.22/Turan: On Tuesday, the Baku Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of the former head of the State Media Support Fund, Vugar Safarli.
He was sentenced to 10.5 years on charges of embezzlement, abuse and forgery. In particular, Safarli was accused of misappropriation of funds allocated for the construction of houses for journalists.
Today, the Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of Ata Abdullayev, who calls himself a blogger. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of extortion through threats.
Abdullayev was used by the authorities to carry out provocations against the opposition. However, later he became involved in racketeering, extorting money from entrepreneurs. -03B06-
