The events of September 12-14 divided society

Baku/16.09.22/Turan: The events taking place on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border are perceived ambiguously in society. During the 44-day war the overwhelming majority of society supported the diplomatic and military steps of the Azerbaijani government, but at present the positions are more divided.

 Units of the Armenian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale provocation in the Dashkesan, Kelbajar and Lachin directions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border. "As a result of urgent measures taken by our units in order to prevent these actions, a military clash occurred," the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported on September 12. 

Historian Altai Geyushov believes that President Ilham Aliyev can make Azerbaijan an aggressive state towards the world. “Not only he will suffer from this, but all of us. In the same way that all citizens of Russia suffer from Putin’s aggression today.”

In his opinion, society believes more in the Angezur, Irevan type of irredentism more than Ilham Aliyev himself, and supports it. "Personally, I do not need Yerevan, Zangezur, and I unequivocally condemn the nighttime aggression against Armenia. The additional land, the territory that I need from my point of view is that we must live with dignity, discarding the desire to be a province, and building a fair system where we now live.

The professor noted that this is also the way of progress. "If the majority does not think so, then neither he nor their children will see a decent life."

Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Ali Karimli asks about the number of martyrs on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border over the past 2 days. “Why did we give so many - 50 people - in a battle in just a few hours with a “starving” enemy? What does an army need to suffer small losses during a war?

The politician believes that, first of all, the army should be equipped with more modern and accurate weapons and protective equipment. "Secondly, it is necessary to train professional military personnel. Professionals must participate in the war. Thirdly, the military must be well trained. During training, there should be no shortage of ammunition.there must be a lot of sweat in the exercises so that less blood is shed in battle. As the famous military leader said,there must be a lot of sweat in the exercises so that less blood is shed in battle.

According to the chairman of the party, the army should be effectively managed. "The confidentiality of the operational plan must be ensured. The army must not sacrifice the adventure of the leaders."

He noted that since 29 out of 50 martyrs were officers and ensigns, this indicates that the military training of the servicemen who took part in the battles was high. The version that our military was unprepared is completely excluded. Now the question is: What did the Azerbaijani army lack or what caused us to lose 50 martyrs in a few hours of fighting with the psychologically weak, backward in armament, equipment, materially poor Armenian army, and it is logical to assume that in 3-4 times more than were injured?

The PFPA chairman believes that so many losses have been suffered without achieving anything. "The authorities cannot force these issues to be hushed up. The government headed by Ilham Aliyev must provide answers to these questions, explanations for the nation."

The head of the Musavat Party, Arif Hajili, also casts doubt on the purpose and outcome of recent events. "We gave 50 martyrs in one day. What is the goal? What is the result? We do not know. Do we have a right to know this? Only Aliyev knows what, when, how and why to do it. He does not tell us. Because only he knows to whom what, when, how to say or not to say.

The head of the party noted that thousands of soldiers, mothers, families, children experienced severe stress, lost their health and years of life. "The tragedy has occurred. Mourning must be declared in the country."

The MP Rufat Guliyev believes that those who blamed the Azerbaijani side of the recent events either do not understand what is happening, or are essentially antipodes. "The third option is that these people are anti-national elements. That is, our international and domestic politics, our victories, the military doctrine on the return of the Karabakh and Zangezur regions irritate these people. They pour water on the Armenian mill, and the Armenian media praise these fiery opportunists."

According to Guliyev, the policy of President Ilham Aliyev is aimed at the final solution of the issue of the Karabakh and Zangezur regions. "We are trying to ensure that the Armenians living in Khankendi stay and take the citizenship of Azerbaijan, live as full citizens. We offer Armenia a peace treaty consisting of 5 points. We have not started a war and never will. Today we are not reacting to strikes in the Karabakh region, but on the attacks of Armenia on our territories.”

According to Turan, on September 16, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan updated the list of  the killed - 77 people. --0--
