The lawyer is not allowed to meet with Bayram Mamedov
Baku / 01.04.19 / Turan: Lawyer Elchin Sadigov was not allowed to meet in the Binagadi detention center with NİDA activist Bayram Mamedov. On March 30, he was sentenced to 30 days of administrative arrest against the charge of not submitting to the police. According to the lawyer, the prison management explained the refusal by sanitary and disinfection work. The lawyer was told that he could only see Mamedov on April 3. Sadigov also failed to file an appeal for the arrest because he was not provided with the text of the decision.
Bayram Mammadov and Giyas Ibrahimov were detained after they wrote political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev on May 10, 2016. Both were convicted to 10 years in prison on a large scale drug trafficking charge. Human rights organization Amnesty International recognized them as "prisoners of conscience." Both were pardoned on March 16 of this year. After being released, B.Mammadov in the media and social networks made a sharp criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities. -21B--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
