The lights of the victim of earthquake living in tents are turned off
The authorities do nothing for housing reconstruction after the earthquake in May 2012 in Balakan region, said Minavar Mustafayeva, a resident of the village of Talalar at the news conference at the International Press Center.
Her family consisting of seven people is still living in a tent after the earthquake. Her two-story house, built 30 years ago, has cracked, and part of the house has was destroyed. The Assessment Committee has decided to restore the house, but the house is beyond repair.
Mustafayeva said that they offered her 5,000 manat to restore the house herself, but she refused, demanding to build her a new house. However, the Commission refused.
Mustafayeva said that the funds allocated by the state are spent for other purposes. She's going to complain against the commission to a higher authorities, and one of the committee members have threatened her.
So far, the family has not received any help from the state, but the family is forced to pay for the electricity used in the tent. For failure to pay the lights in the tent were turned off.
Not only our family, but other families are also in such a situation. When people want to complain, they are threatened, so many people are afraid," said Mustafayeva.
Over 300 million manat have been allocated for the elimination of the effects of the earthquake in the north-western region, but even half of the destroyed house was not restored. -05C04-
