The Movement "Democracy 1918" ceases its activities
Baku/11.09.23/Turan: At the extraordinary congress of the Movement "Democracy 1918", held on September 10, a majority of votes decided to terminate the activities of this organization, a message published on the account "Democracy 1918" on Facebook.
"The anti-democratic system in the country and the apolitical environment generated by it make any form of political activity impossible. On the other hand, limited resources do not allow to adequately respond to social problems and contribute to the implementation of positive changes. We believe that after objective and subjective reasons mature, organizations will arise again, the functioning of which will be the key to political change," the statement continues.
"In conditions of apathy in society, it is very difficult to propose and implement political changes. If individuals do not want to change the system they are in, the collective organization loses its importance," said the leader of the Movement, Ahmed Mammadli. Then he himself will act as a public activist.
At the same time, he noted that despite the termination of the Movement's activities, the alternative Confederation of Trade Unions that functioned under it, as well as the student organization, will continue their work.
