The number of deaths in road accidents over nine months increased by 6.8%
The State Statistics Committee has published information on road accidents in Azerbaijan in January to September 2023. According to the information, 1204 road accidents occurred during this period, by 4.4% less compared to the corresponding period of 2022. As a result of these incidents, the number of victims decreased by 2.2% - 1,661 people. As a result of accidents, 627 people were killed and 1,034 people were injured.
43% of the incidents occurred during the day. 29.8% of incidents occurred on Saturday and Sunday of the week.
87.0% of road accidents occurred in residential areas. As a result, the number of dead increased by 6.8% - 454 people, and the number of injured decreased by 1.1% - 981 people.
18 accidents were caused by drunk drivers, as a result 5 people were killed and 21 people were injured.
