The problem of stray dogs is not solved by killing animals - animal rights activist
Baku/22.05.23/Turan: In the Absheron district, in the village of Masazyr, in the residential complex "Qurtuluş-93", stray dogs attacked boys of 3 and 5 years old who were playing in the yard. The children were taken to the hospital, the health of one of them is serious, the media reported on May 19. After this incident, articles with demands to shoot stray dogs appeared in the press again. Another part of the population is categorically against killing animals. The society believes that the night shooting of stray animals is carried out by the Toplan Center for the Care of Stray dogs, but the leadership of the named organization denies this.
The Toplan Center was established in the village of Balakhany by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Executive Power of Baku in 2019.
The executive authorities of the Absheron district confirmed the problem of danger from homeless animals, and reported on the approved plan for the construction of a new center for the care of homeless animals. Funds have been allocated, the project is ready and the construction site has been determined. The Executive Power of the district believes that parents should not leave their children unattended.
Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, President of Good World Animal Rescue and Protection - GWARP Farid Mansurov said Turan's question that his investigation on the spot revealed the bullying of children over stray dogs. The attack of the animals was the result of beatings to which they were subjected by children.
"The state authorities are not concerned about the problem of stray animals. The situation with the guardianship authorities is even more deplorable, because otherwise it is impossible to explain the fact that a huge number of young children remain on the street without supervision. If young children are left without adult supervision, accidents are inevitable and, first of all, irresponsible parents and guardianship authorities are to blame for this, who do not care about their duties and powers. In the matter of stray dogs, we must follow the civilized world, where the number of stray dogs is controlled by humane programs for their sterilization and vaccination," said F.Mansurov.—0—
