The prosecutor asks to condemn the young activist to three years
The Binagadi district court completed the trial in the case of youth activist Orkhan Eyubzade. He was arrested on May 6 to 20 days for taking part in a protest against the verdict to the activists of NIDA Movement. However, at the expiration of the term of arrest, a lawsuit was filed against him under the Article 315.1 (use of violence against a government representative.)
Today at the trial the prosecutor offered to imprison Eyubzade to three years in prison (the maximum sentence), and the prosecutor did not take into account the mitigating circumstances - youth, lack of crimes, and others.
A lawyer Asabali Mustafayev considers unfounded and politically motivated the prosecution of Eyubzade. He noted that the witnesses did not confirmed the use of force against the police. In contrast, the police beat Eyubzade while the arrest.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 15, where the lawyer and the accused will be given the final floor.—06B-
