The prosecutor's office does not answer Yagublu about the investigation of his complaint
Baku/05.01.22/Turan: More than a month has passed, but the prosecutor's office of the Sabail region has not responded to the complaint of the oppositionist Tofig Yagublu about torture, Yagublu told Turan.
“More than a month has passed, but no information was provided to me,” Yagublu said.
The oppositionist was detained and severely beaten during a protest in Baku on 1 December. He was kept in custody until evening and was beaten.
Yagublu filed a complaint with the Sabail district prosecutor's office and gave testimony for 4.5 hours on December 3, after which he was sent for a medical examination.
According to Yagublu, he was beaten at the 39th police station of the Sabail district, then taken out of the city and released from a car 72 km west of Baku.
Yagublu doubts the fairness of justice in Azerbaijan, and in the future he intends to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
In the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, it was not possible to receive comments in connection with the statements of Yagublu.
Lawyer Neimat Karimli said earlier that if a criminal case on beating the politician is not initiated, the defense will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. — 03B06-
