The prosecutor"s office does not hurry to investigate the "rape" and "torture" in jails
Prosecutor General's Office has yet to react to the death of a prisoner Elshad Babayev in jail N14 on 22 December last year.
The sister of the deceased released photos and video materials confirming the death by torture. However, the forensic examination of Garadagh district determined that Babayev died of a heart attack.
Numerous publications and contact with law enforcement agencies still remain unanswered. Turan attempts to get a comment on the issue were futile. Thus, the death must be investigated by the prosecutor's office. However, until now this fact has not been assessed.
Also, the prosecutor's office is silent for another scandalous fact of rape of the prisoner Lamia Guliyeva in prison. This fact was publicized by a human rights activist Elchin Behbudov. The Prison Service has rejected reports of rape, promising to "find out." Prosecutors also says nothing about the case.
Oddly enough, Elchin Behbudov also does not cause interest of law enforcement, as a source of information about the crime.
This "Olympian calm" of the law enforcement officials, can be explained, apparently, by a forthcoming European games to be held in Baku for the first time. -02D-
