The sale of alcohol by the cards canceled, the authorities capitulate, fearing protests (Video)
On January 12 the Azerbaijani authorities have abolished their own decision on the sale of alcohol through cards from 1 January, said deputy minister of taxes Sahib Alakbarov in an interview with state television. According to him, restrictions on the sale of cigarettes by cash was also lifted. "There were numerous appeals to us in the Cabinet and presidential administration to address some issues. Taking it into account Mr. President took care of entrepreneurs and ordered to postpone the introduction of new trade rules," said the deputy minister.
The new regulations involved the sale of alcohol and cigarettes only in wholesale distribution through plastic cards. However, after 10 days, authorities did not manage to organize this trade. As a result, alchohol from the market disappeared.
Today the government reported that the cause of the protests in Lankaran was precisely the disappearance of alcohol. However, this argument is not true because none of the protesters demanded the return of the alcohol on the shelves. Apparently, the authorities are frantically taking steps in order to keep strengthening protests and to prevent social unrest caused by their incompetent economic policies. -16D-
