The World Congress of Azerbaijanis condemns the violations of the rights of Azerbaijanis in Iran
The World Congress of Azerbaijanis (WCA) held hearings on violations of the rights of ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran, which led to unrest in the country. "These insults began in the 12th century - with the "Shahnameh Firdovsi," said the head of the WCA Sabir Rustamkhanli.
He stressed the absence of schools, universities, newspapers, magazines in the Turkic language in South Azerbaijan. At the same time, Iranian Turks are presented as carriers of the "Persian culture." The Republic of Azerbaijan is to stand up for their brothers in South Azerbaijan, Rustamkhanli said.
A native of South Azerbaijan Mirvahid Amir said that the Azerbaijanis are insulted periodically. In order to eradicate this practice, the whole Turkic world must stand up in defense of the South Azerbaijan.
The representative of the Azerbaijani opposition Panah Huseyn said that the protests in South Azerbaijan is not only the fate of the Turkic world, but the region itself.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of a statement of protest condemning the insult of Azerbaijanis in Iran, and arrests of protesters. The authors demand from Tehran to end this discrimination, and to release those arrested. There is also an appeal to the international community and international organizations to support the fair fight.-05C--
