There is no avian flu, but hunting of waterfowl is prohibited

The situation with avian flu and other acute infectious diseases in the country remains stable.  The Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture did not reveal the  carriers of the disease, according to the press service of the Ministry. 

During recent monitoring the republican veterinary laboratory tested 13 carcasses of wild birds, two home and 1561 fowl. 

Checking the pathological material of the birds revealed no sign of bird flu. Monitoring was conducted by the Veterinary Services and the Ministry of Environment.

The report also says that due to the migration of birds, pets and incubator poultry should be kept in closed conditions.

Veterinary Service warns that the selling and use of migratory and wild birds for human consumption is prohibited. Regular monitoring to be held on February 25.   Despite these limitations, poaching of migratory birds actively continues throughout the country.  In Baku and other cities, birds are sold.

Restrictions on hunting waterfowl was introduced seven years ago, but since then no cases of avian flu have been identified. In all other countries, neighboring with Azerbaijan, restrictions on hunting have been dropped. -03В-
