Tofig Yagublu Continues Hunger Strike for Nine Days
Baku / 10.09.20 / Turan: Oppositionist Tofig Yagublu continues his hunger strike for 9 days in Shuvalan detention center #3.
Today is the day of Yagublu's meeting with relatives, but in the pre-trial detention center they create obstacles for the meeting, said the politician's daughter Nigar Hazi.
“We are told that only one family member can meet with him. This is motivated by the risk of contracting coronavirus. But communication takes place through a glass partition. What kind of infection can we talk about?
My father has been starving for 9 days, he is exhausted and lethargic. He is unable to meet with family members separately.
We asked for a meeting with the head of the pre-trial detention center, and we are not allowed to see him either,” Hazi said.
At the headquarters of Musavat four activists continue a hunger strike in solidarity with Yagublu.
Today, the condition of PFPA member Tofig Mammadov, who is also on hunger strike for 9 days, has sharply deteriorated. An ambulance was called to him yesterday, said another protester, head of the Musavat youth organization Elman Guliyev, who has been on hunger strike for three days.
The head of Musavat, Arif Hajili, said that there were a large number of people willing to join the action. However, there is not enough room for everyone at the headquarters. —06D-
