Trial in the case of the son of opposition leader

Today the  Khatai District Court continued hearing  in  the case of Ali Gyulalyev,  a minor son of a human rights activist Oktay Gyulalyev. He is charged with disorderly conduct. In particular, he was charged with involvement in the fight  on September 20, 2013 at the school  N 165 in the village of NZS, where he studied.  A victim in this case  is a student of this school Bayram Sultanli.

Ali Gyulalyev himself was beaten and injured by unknown three days later, and the case has not yet been investigated. O.Gyulalyev and representatives of the democratic community are convinced that the attack on Ali Gyulalyev was  due to the fact that  his father was as press secretary of the presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Hasanli.

Today's trial heard another minor witnesses.  He, like the previous witness, testified against A.Gyulaliyev under pressure at the police station, where he was held until midnight.

And he was interrogated in the absence of parents. A witness reported that he was taken to the court by a police officer. In this regard, the prosecutor warned him of the responsibility for giving different  testimonies. O.Gyulalyev regarded it as pressure on the witness.

Grandfather of the  witness also said about  the pressure on his grandson.

The public prosecutor asked for compulsory  appearing  in the court  all other  witnesses and the victim, and of the confrontation.

O.Gyulalyev protested, saying that  the confrontation is conducted, if the testimony of witnesses and the victim run counter.  But in this  case, neither the victim ,nor  witnesses named each other in the testimony. However,  the public prosecutor granted the request.

The court also  granted the petition of  O.Gyulalyev on  the investigation the actions of a minor witness in the absence of parents, and call additional witnesses.

The next  trial is scheduled for 15:00 October 22.—0--
