Trial in the case of the son of opposition leader
Today the Khatai District Court continued hearing in the case of Ali Gyulalyev, a minor son of a human rights activist Oktay Gyulalyev. He is charged with disorderly conduct. In particular, he was charged with involvement in the fight on September 20, 2013 at the school N 165 in the village of NZS, where he studied. A victim in this case is a student of this school Bayram Sultanli.
Ali Gyulalyev himself was beaten and injured by unknown three days later, and the case has not yet been investigated. O.Gyulalyev and representatives of the democratic community are convinced that the attack on Ali Gyulalyev was due to the fact that his father was as press secretary of the presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Hasanli.
Today's trial heard another minor witnesses. He, like the previous witness, testified against A.Gyulaliyev under pressure at the police station, where he was held until midnight.
And he was interrogated in the absence of parents. A witness reported that he was taken to the court by a police officer. In this regard, the prosecutor warned him of the responsibility for giving different testimonies. O.Gyulalyev regarded it as pressure on the witness.
Grandfather of the witness also said about the pressure on his grandson.
The public prosecutor asked for compulsory appearing in the court all other witnesses and the victim, and of the confrontation.
O.Gyulalyev protested, saying that the confrontation is conducted, if the testimony of witnesses and the victim run counter. But in this case, neither the victim ,nor witnesses named each other in the testimony. However, the public prosecutor granted the request.
The court also granted the petition of O.Gyulalyev on the investigation the actions of a minor witness in the absence of parents, and call additional witnesses.
The next trial is scheduled for 15:00 October 22.—0--
