Two soldiers killed in southern Karabakh

Two soldiers were killed during the attack by an Armenian sabotage group on the post of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the south of Karabakh on the night of May 28.

There are also losses on the Armenian side, the press service of the Defense Ministry said.

According to the same source, on Wednesday night Armenian saboteurs attacked the Azerbaijani army post on the front line in the Fizuli area.

Thanks to the courage of the soldiers and officers of the Azerbaijani Army, the attack was thwarted. The enemy suffered losses and retreated, the statement says.

During the battle Captain Fikret Mammadov (born in 1982) and Ensign Khudaverdi Abilov (1991) were killed, and the soldier Mehman Mirzazada (1994) was seriously wounded.

For courage and bravery Mammadov was presented the medal For Courage (posthumously).

By the order of the Minister of Defense, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, Ensign Abilov was awarded the medal For Distinguished Service in the Military the third degree (posthumously).

The leadership of the Ministry of Defense brings deep condolences to the parents and relatives of the martyrs.

Currently, the situation in the area, where the sabotage attempt took place, is controlled by the army of Azerbaijan.

According to Armenian media, it was Azeri saboteurs who tried to enter the Armenian side. During this fight the Armenian Corporal Eric Gasparyan was killed. -06D-
