Union for Freedom for Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan Unveils New List of Political Prisoners of 117 People
Baku / 07/31/19 / Turan: The Union for Freedom for Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan (UFPPA) has published an updated list of persons convicted for political reasons. This list contains 117 names that are classified into 8 groups.
The group Journalists and Bloggers includes 6 people. The journalist Seymour Hazy who was released was from this group.
In the group of Human Rights Activists there is only one person - Aliabbas Rustamov.
The list of Members of Opposition Parties and Movements includes 6 people. An activist of the Musavat party Azad Hasanov dropped out of this list.
In the category of Victims of Crimes in the MNS, 3 people are convicts in the case of Said Dadashbeyli Group.
Emin Sagiyev, who was arrested due to the opposition journalistic activities of his sister"s husband, Turkel Azerturk, who lives in emigration in Europe, is recognized as a "political hostage".
Most of the names are in the group Believers - 55.
The number of political prisoners in the Ganja case has increased. If in the previous list of July 2019 there were 18 people, and now there are already 31 people in this group.
The Life-Term Sentenced group includes 14 people.
* UFPPA was established at the end of 2018 by the director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy Leyla Yunus, the head of the Center for Monitoring Political Prisoners Elshan Hasanov, the human rights activist Hilal Mammadov and the Chairman of the Council of Intellectuals of Azerbaijan Eldaniz Guliyev.-06D--
