Who is responsible for the distribution of intimate videos?
Baku/07.03.23/Turan: In recent days, personal photos and intimate videos and correspondence of women have been circulating on social networks. Among them are personal images of public activists, journalists and oppositionists, including imprisoned activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev.
According to the Article 32 of the Constitution of the country, the collection, storage, use and dissemination of information about a person's personal life without his consent is not allowed. No one can be subjected to surveillance, video, photo, audio recordings against his will.
Are the authorities taking any measures in connection with the leakage of personal data of citizens into the social network? Feminist activist Narmin Shahmarzadeh says that the authorities quickly investigate and find the perpetrators when others do. When government agencies commit such a thing, they are not looking for the perpetrators.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained what measures are being taken in connection with the violation of the law and the publication of personal materials of oppositionists.
There are fears that the authorities will use the published materials to accuse Bakhtiar Hajiyev of this and turn public opinion against him. In addition, a new criminal case may be opened against him.
Lawyer Samad Rahimli believes that the materials obtained through cybercrime cannot be presented as evidence in court and cannot be used as an accusation. This is not the first time that personal intimate photos and videos of critics of the authorities appear on social networks, but so far no one has been brought to justice. ---0---

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
