Sahib Mammadov about millions and Sumgait

Sahib Mammedov confirmed on Facebook what he had said previously told, aznews.az published his words that he, being the head of the administrative department of the Presidential Administration of Elchibey in 1993, applied for funds for me to make a film about Sumgait. I deny this fact and consider it as Mammadov"s fantasy.

He writes allegedly that I several times came to his reception room and asked for funds for the film. I used to sit in the reception room only of the president and no one else. If I had to talk about something, then I would call an intercom, three- or four-digit numbers. And anyone working in such institutions would do just that.

Mammadov writes that millions of manat were allocated for allegedly my company for the shooting the film. So, this is not the Soviet ruble devalued by 1992 and not the devalued 5000-fold Azerbaijani manat. These are serious amounts (1 manat=10 ruble) and none enterprise could allocate such funds, even if the president had called. There have never been any company founded by me, except the agency; and this can be confirmed by the ministries of justice and taxes. In this case, Mammadov must tell who gave the instructions who transferred, and where he transferred the funds.

Mammadov writes that later, after the change of power, I rented a room in the building of the Popular Front, the entrance to which was from the theater of Rashid Behbudov and invested the allocated funds there and the agency. And this is not true. Neither I personally nor the agency took the specified premises for rent or invested any funds there. This can be confirmed by the Azadlig newspaper in whose charge the building was located. And this was not the building of the PFA, as Mammadov claims.

Mammadov claims that I treated him with respect and always expressed gratitude for his help. I have never thanked him for anything. But his attitude towards me was hostile, as it can be seen from his writings. And it has its own history when, as the chairman of the Board of the Open Society Institute - Azerbaijan, following a complaint from head of the NGO Public Association of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Elchin Abdullayev, I revealed serious shortcomings in the activities of the commission of the Open Society Institute, the member of which was Mammadov. I did not give this publicity, but stopped the unethical behavior of the members of the commission. I think that Abdullayev himself can speak more specifically about this.

I would like to say Mammadov, that as a head of the public relations department I had to appeal to the head of one of the Baku enterprises about the allocation of funds for one organization in order to prevent threats to national and state interests. I can only inform the interested state bodies what the talk is about. I have never appealed to anyone for personal matters.

And finally, some people ask how Mehman Aliyev, working in the presidential administration, could not be familiar with Mammadov. Mammadov started to work in the presidential administration in May 1993 - a month before the coup, and I did not have any contacts with him. There was no need for it.
