While attacks and slander continue, Armenians intensify their propaganda - Ramiz Mehdiyev
Baku / 31.08.20 / Turan: The former head of the presidential administration, and now the president of the National Academy of Sciences, Ramiz Mehdiyev continues to fight off criticism after his granddaughter's wedding during the quarantine period.
In another article that appeared on the website of the Academy of Sciences late in the evening on August 28, Mehdiyev makes an appeal to the public. Its essence is that the Armenians are preparing for new provocations and pushing in the theses that are beneficial to them in the international arena.
On the one hand, he claims that the policies and efforts of Ilham Aliyev are successfully opposing the efforts of the Armenians. At the same time, he writes that the Azerbaijani side is lagging behind in the ideological struggle and is not doing enough to resist the formation of pro-Armenian sentiments in Europe.
Mehdiyev accuses the country's intellectual elite of belated and primitive steps that have no effect and gives lessons on behavior to diplomats and workers of Diaspora structures. Repeating common truths, Mehdiyev believes that all those who were in his subordination yesterday will suddenly wake up and start working differently.
Further, the former head of the presidential administration "suddenly" recalls that the country does not have a Foreign Policy Concept. He also accuses the intelligentsia of insufficiently opposing the Armenian propaganda and asks a rhetorical question: is it so difficult to keep the topic of Armenian aggression in the spotlight of the international media?
Emphasizing the role of the head of state in this area, he urges not to leave Ilham Aliyev alone in such a responsible issue.
For many years, propaganda relied on emotions, pathos, but not sources. Azerbaijani historians tried to prove that there were no Armenians on the territory of Azerbaijan before the Turkmenchay and Gulistan Treaties. At the same time, they claim that the Armenian Gregorian Church was founded in 1441 in Echmiadzin with the consent of the ruler Garagoyunlu. There are dozens of documents about how the Safavids and Afshars gave benefits to the Armenian population. Why is all this consigned to oblivion? - asks Mehdiyev.
He further criticizes the country's media for the lack of in-depth analytical materials on this topic. Receiving constant financial support from the government, apartments and other benefits, the media publish empty, repetitive and useless materials, Mehdiyev writes.
It is not clear to whom Ramiz Mehdiyev is addressing this criticism. The fact is that this area is ideology, media, propaganda, science, and all the rest. For decades they were under his command. It was he who made decisions, made appointments and formed a strategy in these areas. All that is today is the fruits of Mehdiyev's labor.
All the previous years he did nothing but talk about the achievements and in his anti-Western articles, made it clear that all the troubles of Azerbaijan are the attempts of the West to impose its ideology on the country.
It must be assumed that the harsh criticism and pressure on Mehdiyev after the wedding on August 18 will force him to come up with something else to convince Ilham Aliyev of his usefulness. However, this is hard to believe. -0-

In our society, there is no place under the sun for enlightened people. In our society, the place for enlightened individuals is in dark basements. People who ought to spread light are subjected to curses. Their only weapon is their bright ideas. Their only crime relates to daring to uncover truths hidden beneath the societal fog, bringing them to light and acquainting the community with them. Natig Javadli was such a person, a journalist with a historical consciousness and an enlightening activity.
