Presentation of the film about the Khojaly tragedy in Lithuania (video)

February 19, in the biggest theater in Lithuania - Vingis was premiered the documentary Infinite Corridor by the Lithuanian documentary filmmakers. The authors presented to the public a journalistic investigation of the Khojaly tragedy. This work is the first documented work on the subject of foreign documentary.

At the premiere was attended by the leading electronic and print media in Lithuania, members of parliament, representatives of the government and the presidential administration, the diplomatic corps, including the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Lithuania Hasan Mammadzade and local filmmakers.

"We tried to show a European audience the worst page Karabakh war - Khojaly tragedy, which, unfortunately, little known in the West," said the opening night, the director Mindaugas Urbanavichyus.

"Our work has lasted for more than three years, during which time we had to overcome a number of organizational and creative challenges, including the expulsion of our group from Armenia. However, we completed the work," said the producer Brokas Andrews.

"Khojaly changed my life, after what happened there, I became a different person and my investigation is dedicated to open the eyes of our audience to this horrific tragedy of the Azerbaijani people, to call the perpetrators of mass murder, to repentance," said one of the characters, the journalist researcher Ricardas Lopaytis.

The film itself is a narrative by Lopaytis on the path he went, investigating the massacre in Khojaly, speaking to the direct participants of the military operation and its victims.

It is noteworthy that the filmmakers do not make "judgment", do not blame anyone, but the facts speak volumes. Set out in the movie facts and evidence quite clearly refutes Armenian version that Khojaly people were shot by self-defense units in Agdam, confusing them in the dark with the Armenians.

Combining documentary footage, which is collected from the dead area, the authors argue convincingly that the massacres took place near Askeran - Armenian district center.

Interestingly enough, and the recognition that make Armenian figures involved in the tragedy in Khojaly - the commander of troops Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan and one of the ideologists of the separatists Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan.

However, the main line of the film is the fate of two residents of Khojaly - musician Valeh Huseynov and housewife Mehriban Bekirova. These two lost 10 immediate relatives and survived captivity and inhumane suffering. Their history makes the greatest impression on the viewer.

The film was opened with a live demonstration of Requiem, a song written by Swiss singer Ginta Biku and devoted to victims of Khojaly.

"This film struck me was a revelation. We all know about the Karabakh conflict, but this episode made us feel the depth of the tragedy and suffering of Azerbaijanis and a new perspective on the conflict itself. Feed wonderful and we have included it in the Vilnius International Film Competition", said the director of the festival after watching Vida Ramashkiene.

Ordinary viewers did not hide their emotions and tears were on the faces of many balanced Lithuanians.

Another character of the movie, a Moscow journalist Victoria Ivleva, in her speech before the show, said her life changed on February 25-26. Along with the tragedy, she saved a girl two days old, and considers it one of the most significant events in his life.

It's safe to say that Infinite Corridor is an important milestone in the recognition of the genocide in Khojaly by the international community. -02B-
