The European Union Delegation conducts the FantazEU Cultural Heritage Festival
Baku/12/12/23/Turan: The European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan is organising the fourth edition of the “FantazEU” Cultural Heritage Festival from 12 to 24 December 2023. The Festival aims to promote European cultural diversity in Azerbaijan and build cultural links between the EU and Azerbaijan.
The FantazEU Festival will be organized in partnership with EU Member States, with active participation of the Embassies of Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden as well as Young European Ambassadors.
“Culture helps us build trust and mutual understanding. It also helps maintaining connections, promoting good relations between the countries. We strongly believe that now it is more important than ever to build cultural and educational links. It is not by chance, that the EU and its Member States stand committed to support and protect cultural diversity. The FantazEU Festival will allow to demonstrate the European cultural diversity and to present it to the Azerbaijani citizens. Cultural cooperation is also important as a part of the strong partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan”, said EU Ambassador Peter Michalko.
The programme of the Festival will include organization of a number of exhibitions, live arts workshops and city tours. The “Castles of Europe” exhibition that will last from 12-16 December, will feature photos of the European castles from 16 EU countries. The “Colours of Europe” exhibition from 20-24 December will display works on the theme of Europe created by women-artists from Azerbaijan. The exhibitions will take place at the Nur Art House Gallery, 27 Gasr Str. IcheriSheher. Apart from the exhibitions, live workshops of artists and online city tours from the European cities will be organized. The group exhibition "Everything Will Be Alright: Tomorrow or Someday" at YAY Gallery features works by Rasim Babayev, Elshan Baba, Orkhan Huseynov, Terlan Gorchu, Aida Mahmudova, Qafar Rzayev, Zamir Suleymanov, and CHINGIZ. This exhibition explores various aspects of truth and identity through the contemporary lens. Curated by Zahra Mammadova, the exhibition focuses on how art influences individuals.

Some periods in cultural history have not been deeply studied, and finding precise, detailed information in the Azerbaijani language is nearly impossible. One such period is the Qajar era, which lasted from 1794 to 1985.
