What processes are going on in Nakhchivan after Vasif Talibov?
Baku/28.12.22/Turan: Even though a week has passed since the resignation of Vasif Talibov and the appointment of the presidential envoy to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the issue of Nakhchivan is still relevant. Every day in the media we find reports about Nakhchivan or about the actions of Vasif Talibov.
What processes are taking place in Nakhchivan in reality? What do people expect from the new leadership? Elman Abbasov, deputy chairman of the “Umid” party, talks about this in the “Difficult Question” program.
According to him, presidential envoy Fuad Najafli walked around the city and talked with residents. That is, he did something that Vasif Talybov never allowed himself. “The plenipotentiary has already managed, being in the Kengerli Executive Power, to receive the complainants,” Abbasov said.
He also said that according to available information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be abolished, and the Main Police Department of Nakhchivan under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan will be created instead.
“It is assumed that the head of the Surakhani regional police department, Colonel Suleiman Nematov, will be appointed to the post of head of the Nakhchivan Main Police Department. It was Nematov who distinguished himself by violent dispersal of protests and pickets.”
According to the deputy chairman of the “Umid” party, there are rumors that stores owned by Vasif Talybov have started selling his goods at incredible discounts.
“Unfortunately, the seizure of Vasif Talybov's property is not carried out on a legal basis. Confiscation should be carried out based on court decisions. The fact that this property was acquired illegally does not in any way mean that the principle “rob the loot!” should prevail. Corrupt officials who have committed malfeasance should be fully punished of the law, and illegally acquired property should be confiscated.
The ugly practice, when the property of officials who have fallen into disgrace, is subjected to “dispossession” or appropriation, should be put to an end,” Abbasov believes.—0-
