440 km pipes welded as a part of TANAP
Over one third of the Trans Anadolu gas pipeline (TANAP) has been built in Turkey, said Saltook Duzoil, head of TANAP consortium, Turkish The Lira newspaper wrote yesterday.
He said the pipes have been welded on the section 440 km long and 100 km of pipes have been laid on the ground. The pipes with 56 inches diameter have been laid along the entire route, which is 1334 km long.
The first construction works of TANAP (total length 1800 km) started in mid-August 2015 on the east of Turkey.
TANAP General Director reminded that tenders have been invited and agreements have been signed to a total amount of $4.5 billion.
He said the works are on schedule and part of the project till Eskishekhir (1350 km) is planned to be completed by 2018.
Duzoil also said that 5,000 people have been employed and after completion of the new tenders this figure will reach 8000.
TANAP envisages gas transportation from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western border of Turkey. Gas will reach Turkey in 2018 and after completion of Trans Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) construction gas will reach Europe approximately in 2020.
TANAP shareholders include SOCAR – 58% (operator), Botas – 30% and BP – 12%.
Till January 1, 2016 capital costs of TANAP project totaled $1 billion. According to SOCAR, TANAP construction will cost $9.4 billion.-0—
