63 tonnes of Belarusian potatoes destroyed
Baku/29.03.23/Turan: Three batches of food-grade potatoes imported from Belarus have been destroyed at a landfill. The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (FSA) reports.
The report says that the FSA officers seized 21 tons of potatoes imported by "Famura RS" and 42.388 tons imported by "Turas MM" from Belarus within the monitoring activities. Potato samples have been sent to a laboratory of the Azerbaijan Institute of Food Safety for determination of safety indicators.
"As a result of inspections, the following quarantine pests were detected in all 3 lots of potato products: potato tuber ring rot (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. sepedonicus) and potato stem nematode (Ditylenchus destructor Thor.). Appropriate measures have been taken on this fact in keeping with the legislation, the FSA said.
According to the State Customs Committee, 4,827.3 tonnes of potatoes worth $1.5 million were bought in Belarus in January this year.
Worthy of note is the fact that the two above-mentioned companies ("Famura RS" Ltd and "Turas MM" Ltd) were founded on the same day (December 1, 2022) in Baku with minimum capital (AZN 2). According to the State Tax Service, "Turas MM" LLC (INN: 1308070461) https://vergiler.az/news_print.php?announcement_id=64316 has a debt of 134,681 manats ($79,200). -08B-
