Accounting Chamber Takes Control of Customs

The State Customs Committee today (January 18) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation with the Court of Auditors.

The document provides for the strengthening of control over the calculation and payment of customs revenue.

Because of the declining revenues of the state budget the government continues to search for ways to increase cash flow by any means.

Independent experts say that every year through customs several billion mantas escape from the state budget and are deposited in the pockets of corrupt officials of the SCC. -------08D
