AZAL Does Not Think about Increasing Ticket Prices
The Tariff (Price) Council adopted on November 28 a decision to raise tariffs within SOCAR and wholesale jet engine fuel, which come into force on December 1st.
Current tariffs (https://goo.gl/9H2uW1) were adopted in January 2015. Then, on the initiative of SOCAR the tariff on jet engine fuel was increased to 338.20 manat. The final decision of the Council increased the rate to 415.95 manat (+ 23%).
The wholesale price of oil will be 550 manat per ton from December 1 of this year. The rate increased by 100 manat (+ 22.2%).
In the decision the TC noted that the initiator of the tariff increase for jet engine fuel is the State Oil Company. The main consumer of oil is CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which applies the prices of airline tickets for international flights "in line with tariffs used by foreign airlines", said the Council.
The spokesman for AZAL Pasha Kesamanski told Turan the airline did not think about increasing ticket prices. No proposals exist for revision of tariffs for domestic flights.
Ticket price in the country is regulated by the TC. On international flights AZAL forms the ticket price at its discretion. AZAL receives annually 10 million manat from the state budget as subsidies to offset the losses on the domestic flights Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku. --08B
