Azerbaijan and Turkey must intensify cooperation in energy field, says Turkish minister
Azerbaijan and Turkey must strengthen cooperation in the energy field, because as demand in the natural resources grows in Europe, the partnership will become more important, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said in his speech at the Caspian Forum in Istanbul.
“TANAP and trans-Adriatic pipeline (TAP) make a very important chain for delivery of natural gas from the Caspian basin to Europe,” he said.
Minister said that at present annual natural gas consumption in Europe totals 500-520 billion cub.m. of gas and by 2030 the consumption is expected to grow up to 700 billion cub.m., which makes the South Gas Corridor more important and Turkmenistan, Iran and Iraq could contribute into this project.
Yildiz said that in the co0ming years gas consumption in Turkey will increase up to 50-52 billion cub.m.
“83% of Turkish population has access to gas today and by 2015 the entire country will be supplied with gas,” said Minister.—0—
