The State Social Security Fund reported that since early year number of foreign labor force increased by 13.1%. By July 1, 2013 their number reached 15,824 people.
Majority of them are Turkish citizens (9,621 or 60.8% of all labor migrants), then come Georgian citizens – 1,723 and then Russian citizens – 799.
Iran (514 people), China (390), India (381) and UK (234) are relatively active. The labor migrants from 97 world countries are officially registered in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
