Azerbaijan Implements National Strategy for Development of Information Society in 2016-2020
BAKU / 21.09.16 / TURAN: The state program of the implementation of the national information society development strategy for 2016-2020 has been approved.
As stated in the President’s order (http://azertag.az/store/files/20.09.16%20-%20PROQRAM/SARANCAM-AZARBAYCAN%20RESPUBLIKASINDA%20INFORMASIYA%20CAMIYYATININ%20INKISHAFINA%20DAIR.pdf), among the stated objectives there is development of new and maintenance of existing infrastructure, the expansion of the ICT capacity transit corridor, and providing alternative connections to high-speed international Internet backbones.
Among the priorities there is development of competitive high-tech sector, able to enter the world market, the production of high-tech products, and other national content.
According to the document, the coordination of the execution of the program is entrusted to the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies. --17D-

While the global economy faces persistent challenges, trade between China and Azerbaijan has defied downward trends, demonstrating significant growth. According to official statistics from Azerbaijan, bilateral trade in 2023 reached 3.1 billion US dollars. In just the first ten months of 2024, trade volume increased by 17.1% year-on-year, reaching 3.02 billion US dollars, putting the annual trade figure on track to hit a record high.
