Azercell and PASHA Bank encourage young entrepreneurs
March 29, 2013 Baku hosted the finals of the World competition StartUp.
According to the local mobile operator Azercell, the project has created an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to realize their business ideas in the field of ICT, identified four winners. According to estimates of the International Jury, places distributed as follows: 1st place - Rahman Mammadli with the project NeWo, 2nd place - Elvin Efendiyev and the project Testoloq. Rufat Balakishiev with the project City Guide was on the 3 spot and Azer Aliyev with the project AziFus was on the 4th.
The winner will receive the opportunity to present their idea to the international jury of the grand final in February 2014 in Lausanne (Switzerland). The author of the project, who took the 2nd place, will be able to participate in business training in Switzerland and present his project to investors. Nominees, honoring 3rd and 4th place will receive two thousand manats each.
Worldwide competition StartUp was conducted with the support of Azercell Telecom, the Innovation Center Barama, PASHA Bank and the Swiss company Seedstars. During the year, 20 countries will hold contests to determine the best start-up projects, which will represent their country at the Grand Final.
In Azerbaijan the qualifying round began in February. It is by Azercell and PASHA Bank that for the first time, young people of Azerbaijan have received the right to participate in this competition. They received more than 90 applications, 20 of which were selected for the final. March 27 at Barama Innovation Center for finalists held trainings and individual consultations by the European mentors.

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
