Baku Executive Power Delays Help to Tenants of 2 Subhi Street
The inhabitants of three apartments in a nine-storey building at 2 Subhi Street in the village of Buzovna cannot get help from the executive power of Baku. The building is managed by the First Special Housing and Communal Economic Association of Municipal Housing and Economic Department of the Executive Power of Baku.
The fire broke out in an apartment on the 7th floor on 18 December 2016 and affected apartments above the 8th and 9th floor. It completely burnt plastic windows on the balconies and melted the windows and doors of the apartments.
The cause of the fire on the balcony was an old laminated facing, which was installed by the city authorities during the external repair five years ago. After a series of fires in residential buildings with such coatings that claimed human lives in 2015, the authorities replaced all the coating of this sort. The same was done to the building at 2 Subhi Street. But the builders did the job with errors, retaining the coating on the balconies. Besides, the work of changing the coating on the facade of the building was not completed. The tenants have complained to all the authorities, after which the work was resumed.
For a month the authorities of Baku did not find funds to replace the windows and doors of the three apartments. First, they said formally the apartments were not insured. But only after complaints came and MOE fixed the ignition of substandard materials, the executive power promised repair. It should be noted that the effects of all previous similar fires have been eliminated by the state.
Turan has decided to send a request to the Executive Power of Baku on this occasion. -0-
