
Benefits for Babies on Air Route Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku
From November 15, benefits in the amount of 10 manat for buying tickets for the aviation route Baku-Nakhchivan and back will be also provided for children from two to five years old. The corresponding decree of the Cabinet of Ministers №363 adopted on October 31 was published on the government website (www.cabmin.gov.az) only on November 12.
In December 2007, the government revised the tariff exemptions on the air route Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku valid since 1994. Before that, permanent residents in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of preferential categories of people (disabled, senior citizens, full-time students, children from 5 to 12 years) had a benefit of 70% of the ticket price, while from January 2008 the benefit was limited to 10 manat. Furthermore, this benefit spread also on persons with disabilities up to 18 years old and all citizens of the country, as well as stateless persons. In addition, while the cost of the ticket was 70 AZN passengers (excluding foreigners) were exempted from paying 20 manat of this sum.
The government pays a subsidy for losses of the state CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines. In 2012, the amount of subsidies totaled 7 553.6 thousand, in 2013 – 9 850 000 manat and in 2014, grants are projected at 10 million 10 thousand manat.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2012 domestic flights (mainly via Baku-Nakhchivan and Nakhchivan-Baku) there were transported 275 000 passengers and in 2013 there were transported 293 000 passengers. --08D--
