Computer Security still relevant
BAKU/04.02.14/TURAN : The Park Inn on Tuesday held a round table discussion on "Information Security Virtual Media " , organized by the Ministry of Communications and ICT , the Press Council and the Center for Information Technology Systems Multimedia .
Discussions were held with a view to creating a favorable social and informational environment , capable of withstanding various cyber threats.
The situation is that not only the authorities of Azerbaijan, but also the leading commercial structures of the country are not yet ready to repel attacks, even irrelevant . Thus, January 16, 2012 were marked by attacks on websites hosted on the server of the Information center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Department of Special Communication and Information Security of the Special State Security Service. As a result, the Ministry of Communications revealed that 24 cyber-attacks on local sites, including Pasha Bank and Garant Holding, were committed from Iran , and one - from the Netherlands. It is then followed by presidential decree on the establishment of special units of information security, held meetings with the leaders of corporations HP and Microsoft.
According to President of IntraNS Co. and the head of the electronic security center at the Ministry of Communications AR Faig Farmanov , together with the State Agency for Special Communications and Information Security of the Special State Security Service six months ago they solved organizational problems and have already contacted the owners of advanced experience in the area.
Farmanov reported on the experience of Israel in this field and intention of Azerbaijan to adopt it. This was confirmed during the international exhibition and conference CYBERTECH- 2014 in Tel Aviv . The subject of discussion is the newest systems to prevent data leaks and cybercrime, security, Web- based services and applications , "cloud" services , security of critical infrastructure , mechanisms of internal threats , and so on .
The Israeli Government has allocated $ 245 million to address the problems of the segment that allows to fend off the threat , he said.
Farmanov believes that Azerbaijan in the course of its development, every year becomes a more attractive target for the creators and carriers of cyber threats , due to its initiatives in the field of gas projects and transcontinental communication system.
According to the International Telecommunication Union , Azerbaijan is one of the ten states dynamically developing the ICT sector. It is necessary that the proportion of funds allocated to cyber security was adequate to the growth rates in this segment of the economy. In addition , the government, civil society and direct Internet users must unite in the fight against cyber threats . - 17D-
