Contracts to the amount worth over $9.5 billion concluded as a part of Shah Deniz-2
Until now the contracts to a total amount of $9.5 billion have been concluded within the framework of development of the Shah Deniz gas condensate field and expansion of the South Caucasian gas pipeline, BP-Azerbaijan President Gordon Birrell told journalists.
He said only in 2014 the costs within the framework of the Shah Deniz-2 project totaled $4.5 billion and majority of these resources falls to the contracts in Azerbaijan.
“Gas production within the framework of the Shah Deniz-2 is planned to begin in 2018 and we have been working on that. Construction works will be carried out within five years and we will be able to complete them in time,” Birrell added.
As a part of the Shah-Deniz-2 project we plan to produce 16 billion cub.m. of gas and about 3.5 million tons of condensate a year. Two offshore platforms will be installed and over 20 underwater wells have been drilled for production. For the first time the manifolds – the automated underwater production systems - will be applied for production in the Caspian Sea. Oil extracted from the deep-water section of the sea will be delivered to the platforms through the pipelines, where after the primary cleaning gas and condensate will be separately transported to the coastal terminal.
