EU resumes talks on the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline

The European Union is looking for opportunities for the construction of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Europe with the involvement of European companies, stated  the EU ambassador to Ashgabat Denis Daniilidis.

According to Reuters, European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič plans to visit Turkmenistan in the coming months for the resumption of negotiations on the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.

"During the negotiations with our Turkmen partners we came to the conclusion that it is necessary to find out how to attract EU companies to buy Turkmen gas to the European market," said Šefčovič.

On March 10, Turkmen authorities have said about active negotiations on deliveries to Europe from 10 to 30 billion cubic meters. meters of gas per year through the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, which will be laid under the Caspian Sea from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan. Next it will connect with the existing system of pipelines and gas through Georgia and Turkey will go to Europe.
