Export of Azerbaijani gas via Southern Caucasian gas pipeline broke the record
During 2014 6.5 billion cub.m. of gas was transported via the Southern Caucasian gas pipeline (SCP) Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum (BTE) against 4.7 billion cub.m. in 2013, reported the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee.
According to the Committee, in 2014 21.9 billion cub.m. of gas was transported via the gas pipelines of Azerbaijan, up 9.4% against 2013.
Transportation of gas via the Southern Caucasian gas pipeline started in 2007. Since that the record volume of pumping has been registered once. Before that 5 billion cub.m. of gas was transported only once in 2009.
Gas extracted from the Shah Deniz Phase 1gas condensate field on the Caspian Sea is exported via the Southern Caucasian gas pipeline. Gas is exported mainly to Turkey. Since 2013 Georgia also buys small volume of gas (not considering transit volume).
* SCP operated by BP company was built in 2004-2006, its length is 680 km and its carrying capacity is 7.4 billion cub.m. Then its construction cost shareholders of the Shah Deniz consortium $1.1 billion.—0—
