Fish Catch Quota Volume Increased by 113.3 Tons
678.9 tons of fish was caught in Azerbaijan’s waters, including the Caspian Sea and inland waters, instead of the 793.5 tons of quota designated for companies and individuals in 2016.
Compared to 2015, the fish catch quota increased by 113.3 tons, the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
Basically caught were the sprat - 315.6 tons (in 2015, 138 tons), the kutum (local carp species living in the sea) - 92.5 tons (116 tons), the herring - 86.1 tons (118 tons), and the mullet - 67.7 tons (78 tons).
Permits to fish catch belong to 155 businesses and individuals. For the quotas they have paid the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources 32,500 manats.
Total in 2016, 63.2 thousand tons of fish for a total value of AZN 230 million was caught in Azerbaijan in 2016. -----08D
