Foreign currency trade in August fell significantly
BAKU/30.10.13/TURAN : Turnover of non-cash foreign exchange transactions in August 2013 amounted to the equivalent of AZN 2,775 million ($ 3.5 billion ) , a decrease of 17.8 % on the month . Only 8 months of this year, foreign exchange turnover amounted to 24.5 billion manat. Compared to the same period last year , it increased by 20.1 %.
The volume of cash transactions in U.S. dollars in August was $ 968 million. That's $ 62 million or 6.1 % less than in July . During the reporting month sales of the currency increased by 2.2 % , purchases fell by 25%. Compared to the same period in 2012 , January- August this year, the total turnover of cash exchange operations with U.S. currency rose by $ 223 million , or 2.9 %, to $ 7,966 million.
The volume of cash transactions euros for eight months of 2013 amounted to 2,352 million (unit of the relevant currency ), which is 80.1 percent more than last year .
The total turnover of cash exchange operations in January- August this year, with Russian rubles and with the British pound sterling was equal to 10,954 million , respectively, and 36.5 million.
The average exchange rate of cash dollar to manat in August increased by 1 point , and for the past 12 months - by 14 basis points to 0.7845 manats per 1 USD. - 15B-
