For the first time in the history of independent Azerbaijan grain growers have reached a record in terms of yield - the average of 30.3 quintals per 1 hectare.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 6 they collected 1 million 350 thousand tons of wheat. The yield was 31.7 q / ha. This is 33.8% more than in 2014.
Just this year, the area under cereals and legumes in Azerbaijan make up 915.2 thousand ha (excluding maize). On July 6, there were harvested 780.9 thousand ha.
For the first 6 months of this year, imports of wheat in Azerbaijan increased compared to the year 2014 by 34.4% and amounted to $ 187.5 million, according to the State Customs Committee.
According to the balance of consumption, in 2013, Azerbaijan used 2 million 864 thousand tons of wheat for food, starch and forage production, 1 million 451 thousand tons of which is accounted for by imports. -----08B
