Ilgar Muradov Appointed Head of ADIF
A Member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Markets Control House (FMCH) of Azerbaijan Ilgar Muradov was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund (ADIF).
He replaced the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Uni Bank Eldar Garibov, who was elected in January this year instead of Chingiz Asadullayev, who is Chairman of the AG Bank Supervisory Board.
On July 13, perturbations in the ADIF Board of Trustees were reported, after which the Council was formed consisting of: Chief of the Financial and Insurance Market Regulation Department of the Ministry of Finance Ziyaddin Allahverdiyev, the Head of the Strategic Planning and Forecasting Department of the Ministry of Economy Yalchin Azizov and the Chairman of the Board of OJSC International Bank of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadov.

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
