Import of Mobile Phones Increased Fivefold
Legal commercial import of mobile phones to Azerbaijan in 2016 amounted to about 461 thousand units. This is more than 5 times higher than the rate for 2015.
The growth in the number of imported mobile communication means is the result of toughening of customs control over importers - dealers of mobile phone manufacturers in Azerbaijan, rather than an increase in the demand for them. Moreover, in 2016, the purchasing power and activity in the country decreased significantly.
The State Customs Committee told Turan that the phones were delivered from China - 305,500 pieces (+ 258,199), Vietnam - 144,152 and Korea – 6,936 pieces (- 8,845).
Last year, the import of mobile phones was declared at a price of $ 41 million 678.4 thousand, 4.4 times more than in 2015. One mobile communication device was declared at a price of $ 90.3. In 2015, the average declared value of one mobile phone was $ 107.4. --08B
