In Azerbaijan, officially 239,500 unemployed
The unemployment rate in Azerbaijan on 1 August 2013 was 5.1%. Azerbaijan officially had 239,500 unemployed, which is 3,600 fewer people than at the beginning of the year, the State Statistics Committee told Turan. Over the past three years, the unemployment rate in the country dropped by about 20,000 people.
According to the estimates of GCS, at the beginning of August this year, the number of economically active population totaled 4,729,000 persons. Compared with the beginning of the year the figure rose to 40 600 people. At the same time engaged in labor activities 4,489,500 people, which is higher than compared to January of this year by 44 200 people.
It is noteworthy that the government approves the opening of the first half of this year, 58,700 new jobs, of which 44 700 - permanent.
On August 1 this year by the employment service in Azerbaijan was granted the status of an unemployed 37 166 people, of whom 36% live in Baku. However, not all unemployed were "lucky" to get a status and an appropriate allowance. The average unemployment benefit is 222.6 manat.
Note that on July 1 of this year Azerbaijan's population reached 9,411,800 people. Thus, approximately 50.2% of the population is economically active. - 08D-
