In December 2014 BP to join TANAP
The process of BP’s joining the trans-Anadolu gas pipeline (TANAP) will be completed in the near future, Gordon Birrell, BP-Azerbaijan President, told journalists at the end of last week.
Birrell expressed hope that the procedure of purchase-sale of share from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will be completed till the end of this year. When the deal is closed, BP’s share in the project will constitute 12%.
TANAP project envisages gas transportation from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field to the European border through Turkey.
The initial carrying capacity of the pipeline will total 16 billion cub.m. of gas a year. In the future the pipeline could be expanded up to 31 billion cub.m. a year.
It is planned to put TANAP into operation in 2018. The project is estimated at $11.8 billion.
TANAP operator is SOCAR (70%), which since this year (Turkish BOTAS company is another project partner with 30% share) has been actively preparing for the construction scheduled for 2015.—0—
